BATTLEFIELD SHOW NO QUARTER

Post by philharris »

this spring has been nothing but blood sweat ‘n’ tears…
in the barren landscape of no kelp forests…not because
the current is laying the kelp down…80% is flipping gone!!!

it’s funny to see all the kelp bass huddled to the few clusters
of kelp that remain…my sonar looks comical…like their all
hanging out at the only saloon in town…

without the huge forests…it’s been hard looking for the usual
predators suspending in them to ambush prey…but…the battlefield
reefys still are worth a persistent look-see…

launched at pre-dawn…set up the artillery on the battlefield…
passed out ammunition…sent out scouts (metric for fan casting plastics)
hunting for the combatants…

hours go by…all the “nectar of the gods” is consumed…still no sign
of hide nor hair of’um??? ho-hum…10:30 rolls around…time to pack it in…

as the idiot crew members in my head ‘n’ i are packing up all the weaponry…
bing-zing-kaboom!!! my rod loads up…line starts ripping off my reel…
the swine rat bastard takes flight!!!

the idiot crew members in my head screech “oh no, not another damn shark!”
yeah i thought…that’s all i”ve been finding this spring ‘n’ summer so far…
they get yer nerves ‘n’ blood racing…till they reach color…then…
the usual doh!!! not another one!!!

my drag washers must be worn out…cuz this guy is peeling line at break
neck speed??? funny??? he keeps targeting small bushes on the bottom
that only rise up about 10’ or so…could it be??? nah…this fight has been
going on a hell of a lot longer than any combatant fish could muster…

like big heavy sharks do…he zig zagged all over the place…dragging me
to kingdom come…finally…went i got the better of’um…i was able to get
the half empty reel filled again…as he reached color…i couldn’t believe
my eyes…it was a flippin’ c-bastard!!!

showing no quarter on the battlefield…i drove my bayonet in to the
swine rat bastard combatant…with the battle over…i relinquished my
command ‘n’ headed home…victorious!!!

just keep laughin’…cheers!!!

Awesome, Phil! That's a nice surprise when you're expecting a shark. What kayak are you in? Looks sweet!

I happened into a couple seabass this season while fishing calicos. Need to find a photo hosting site that actually works so I can start posting again

funny how pics can be deceiving...that fish was so damn fat i thought it was
a 50 lb-er...(the pics make it look skinny?)...shocked to fine it only weighed 38 lbs???

that's the ocean kayak tetra 12'...55 lbs / 28" wide with a skinnier rod pod
compared to the prowler trident rod pod...i got it in 2012???

i sold that "scupper pro" i bought a few years ago...i guess i'm spoiled with the
tetra's rod pod going thru the surf...i bought a new blue 'n' white tetra 12 recently...
(looks like they aren't making them anymore)...so i have one when my original
craps out...

like jruiz...i use imgur.com to post pics...but i use my computer to do it...much easier
opening multiple pages on...than trying to figure out how to do it with my phone...
the phone might be smart...but...i'm an idiot!!!
