Sundays E-mail

Good Morning Tournament Anglers

The Captain's meeting was yesterday at Baja Fish Gear. The meeting went well... I shared lots of info on the area, and we also were able to listen to Robert from Phoenix Baits give a great little presentation...THANKS ED and Robert...!
I'll save captain's bags for any participants that didn't get one Saturday.

We had a really fun time with the pre-fish/tour in King Harbor yesterday. Thanks to Frank and Chad from Hookup Baits we all had a sample or two of those killer baits and Frank was the "hot stick" of the day.
Scott and Frank each had multiple hookups on the small Yellows and I managed to fool one also with the 1oz. Sardine colored Hookup. Lots of bass were caught by everyone and Frank had his personal best 23" Sandbass. The head on that beast was so big you could fit your fist down it. We tried a deepwater rockfish spot yesterday with lots of marks on it but they just didn't want to bite.
Last Sunday we caught a 34# 41" Halibut and limits of big Rockfish so the S.M. Bay is really heating up.

It looks like we'll be into the June gloom overcast morning with a windy sunny afternoon so get your outside fishing done early then maximize your time near or in the harbor before the cut-off time at 1pm.

Please be aware of the legal fishing areas along the big break wall and near the hand launch and the small sportfishing pier. The Harbor Patrol does enforce the no-fishing areas. If you have questions about the no-fishing areas in the harbor please contact me.
We will have two support boats on the water. Jeff Mariani and John Whitaker will be on their skiffs and available on VHF channels 16 and 68. Please contact them for support on channel 68. In case of an emergency contact the Harbor Patrol on channel 16.

To win or avoid a tie we will utilize your check out time. (earliest check-out wins a tie) If you do not officially check-out at the table you will be assigned a 1pm check-out time.
You can bring a digital camera as a back-up for your smart phone or to use if you do not own a smart phone. Please bring a USB cable or be able to remove your card to download your photos...Please only submit 3 photos for your download or on your card. (we don't need to download your vacation photos too)...

There are various divisions and additional awards available in this tournament, so I'll send out another email outlining these additional prizes later.

I look forward to a busy judges table and weigh-in on Saturday...Primetime Seafood has donated another 50 pounds of Swordfish for our lunch....unfortunately our Chef Yanni will be going under the surgeons knife on Monday, so our lunch will be prepared by the chef at the yacht club.

Please get your friends to sign-up now...www.battleofthebays.com

Thanks
